Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone was born on the 16th of August 1958 in Michigan (USA), as one of seven children. Her mother died of breast cancer, when she was five. She attended Catholic School and later graduated at Rochester Adams High (1976). Then she studied modern dance at the University of Michigan, but left the college after few semesters and moved to New York. In 1983 she released her first, self-titled album. The first hit was "Holiday". In 1985 Madonna married actor Sean Penn. The marriage lasted four years. In 1996, at the age of 38 she gave birth to daughter Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon (father Carlos Leon). Madonna married again in 2000, to Guy Ritchie. They have a son, Rocco Ritchie. She starred in movies like: Desperately Seeking Susan (1985), Who's That Girl? (1987), Dick Tracy (1990), A League of Their Own (1992), Evita (1996), The Next Best Thing (2000)... Madonna also owns Maverick Records. Her latest album is titled "Confessions on a Dancefloor". |
