Adriana Lima was born on 12th of June 1981 in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil. The blue/gray-eyed model can attribute her exotic looks to French, Portuguese, Native-American and Caribbean heritage.

She has been modelling since 1994, first in Brazil and then in USA and Europe. Like her countrywoman Gisele Bündchen, Adriana Lima started posing for Guess clothing campaigns. In 1996 she won the "Ford Supermodel of Brazil" contest and later second position in the "Ford Supermodel of the World" contest.

In 1997 she signed with Elite Model Management and moved to one of the fashion centers of the world, New York. She apperaded on several Vogue covers in many countries, by now already established as one of the top supermodels. In 2001 Adriana Lima got a role in " The Follow", one of the popular online short movies by BMW (she played the beautiful young wife tailed by BMW driver Clive Owen).

She promoted designers like Cynthia Rowley, Vera Wang, Christian Lacroix, Emanuel Ungaro, Betsey Johnson, Girls Rule, Richard Tyler, Emporio Armani, Giorgio Armani, Fendi, Randolph Duke, Ralph Lauren, Valentino and many more. On the catwalk of the campaign "Victoria's Secret Summer 2000 Swimwear Catalogue" (in Cannes) she shared the spotlight with supermodels such as Heidi Klum and Laetitia Casta.
